How to Practice Mindfulness to Stay Positive

When your mind is constantly consuming information it’s so easy to live in the past and the future. Why didn’t I do this better or I hope they like what I did. Removing yourself from the past and future mindset and being completely present is a powerful tool. When your mind is focused on the here and now, you allow yourself to completely engage with the task at hand. Consider what is best for you right now? What will help you in this very moment?

You can practice mindfulness meditation to help actively stay present. Before you jump to the oh this isn’t for me, keep reading. Meditation does not have to be fussy or expensive. Mindfulness meditation is about getting to spend a few moments with yourself so that you can put your priorities first, work towards your goals, and experience success. Find time throughout your day, whether that time is in the morning, afternoon, or evening, to pause. Sit in a comfortable position. Focus on your breathing and simply observe your thoughts as if you were watching cars pass by. For further guidance, download the headspace or calm app.

Taking a few moments each day to align with yourself and observe your thoughts will help you understand that your thoughts do not define who you are, but are simply ideas that pass through your mind. One of the most positive side effects of practicing mindfulness is your shift in perception. You will begin to approach each situation you encounter as an opportunity instead of a problem. Your inner dialogue will become quieter and as a result will not question or challenge new tasks.

Lastly, remember that you are always in control. As you begin to start practicing mindfulness meditation and aligning with your vision, you will start to see a positive change in the way you approach situations. As new situations appear, remember you in control. If something is not working for you, change it. Do not place your lack or failures on someone else. Owning your own actions will show your ego that you are in control and have the ability to reassess situations as you need. Believe that the universe has your back and is not working against you. Feed it with positivity, positivity will find you.

As you being to practice mindfulness notice your stress and anxiety lower. You will gain clarity of your vision and goals and know you can work towards them to find success. The benefits of mindfulness pour over into your personal and professional life. Use our free habit tracker to start holding yourself accountable of practicing mindfulness. You will find balance and the opportunity to live life to your fullest potential.
