With spring, comes new beginnings and a much needed moment of slow before the busy, chaotic summer months filled with travel and adventure. How to Declutter in 3 Simple Steps

 

1. Locate the Areas of Disorder 

 

When stepping into a messy area, it can be easy to get overwhelmed, so first, take a moment to locate these areas. We encourage you to even jot them down and rank them based on their level of clutter. Once you have a good sense of the areas that you’d like to declutter, start where you feel most comfortable.

 

2. Divide and Conquer 

 

Once you have determined a starting place, begin to separate and group like items together. Next, identify which items should stay and which to toss or donate. Throwing items out can be a difficult task, but necessary when trying to declutter. Ask yourself, when was the last time I used this item? If your answer to that question is more than 6 months ago, consider tossing it. After you are left with only the items you want to keep and bring you the most joy, start appointing each item a home.

 

3. Maintain 

 

After you spend quality time creating this organization, it’s important to develop a process to maintain the flow. We recommend doing a quick sweep of the space(s) weekly or monthly depending on how often you’re in the space. We can all agree that this may be the hardest step, but once a habit is formed, it’s much easier to prevent clutter from forming again.
