With busy summer schedules, it feels almost impossible to find an active routine that you can stick to and actually enjoy. You can google so many work out plans and try to puzzle together how you’re going to commit yourself to working out with your busy Summer schedule. Tip 1 : Explore different activities
Getting a decent workout doesn’t mean you have to find time to make it to the gym everyday. If you are committed to working out, there are so many other adventurous activities that can be just as fulfilling, help you stick to an active routine, and probably much more exciting than being confined to the equipment at your gym.
Biking, hiking, and kayaking are some exciting outdoor activities that will keep your workout routine fresh and consistently challenging. Instead of driving to grab lunch on your break, try walking. Meeting your friend at a coffee shop? Try biking to meet her. There are plenty of situations where we can simply switch out this for that, making whatever you’re doing have a more positive impact on your life, body, and mind.
Tip 2 : Find a partner
Bringing along a friend to exercise is always a good idea. It not only holds you both accountable, but gives you some time to catch up and spend quality time together! Get a group of friends together and run for a cause, or make a day out of it and bike around the city, stopping in your local park to have a picnic. If you live in a larger city, be sure to check out some of the classes offered in your city. There are so many fun and unique class offerings from spin class to hip-hop dancing, hot yoga, pilates, barre, kickboxing, rock climbing, and more! Trying new things can be intimidating and scary at times, so having a friend tag along may make you feel a bit more comfortable and excited to step out of your box, make exercise a daily habit, and keep an active routine this Summer.
Tip 3 : Plan for it
Try to carve out some time to sit down each week (Sunday evenings are great for this!) and plan for your workouts. This helps you develop a busy schedule work out plan so you can stick with your fitness goals. It’s not always easy, but establishing a plan of action helps keep your body and mind prepared for what’s to come.
Whatever activity you end up doing for the day or week, remember that everyone moves and progresses at their own pace, and the end goal is to simply be more active and have some fun while doing it.
